!!! Information about "Red Rose Ball" !!!

In every single large town in Bulgaria there is an Orphanage coping with between 50 and 120 children at any given time. These children range in age from a few days old to the age of 18.

Outside help is very limited, and providing even sufficient food or head is an burdensome and almost impossible task. In the main, the staffs try the best that they can with the limited resources available to them. Over the last few years we have been trying to assist their efforts. In particular, we have been supporting 2 orphanages in Bulgaria – 1 in the city of Yambol and the other in the town of Elhovo, providing what we call “the basic necessities”.

YAMBOL ORPHANAGE

In Yambol the children range in age from a few days old to about 6 years old. They need nappies (and lots of them!), clothes, bottles, sterilizing tablets and cleaning products – the very basics. With at the latest estimate approximately 45 babies wearing nappies and conservatively thinking of changing them 5 times daily – That is A STAGGERING 81,000 nappies needed per year!

ELHOVO

In Elhovo there are 90 children of school age (ranging from 7 – 17) – their needs are simple. They need pens, pencils, toiletries (all sorts!), notebooks, chairs, desks – A LEVEL FLOOR, A New Ceiling – all the things that we take for granted every day.

Due to the poverty and the many mouths to feed, their diet is often the same every day – soup, soup and more soup. It is in many respects like a scene from a Dickens novel, it is Unimaginable to think that last Christmas as we opened up our presents and feasted on turkey, the children in Elhovo Orphanage had BEAN SOUP – it was all that they could afford

With your continued support, we hope to be able to move the appeal forward and provide assistance to a further 2 orphanages in the locality.
